1. Introduction
As tutors of Bespoke Tutoring services, the safety and welfare of the children in our care is of utmost importance. This safeguarding policy outlines our commitment to protecting children from harm and ensuring a safe learning environment in accordance with the principles and guidelines of the "Keeping Children Safe in Education" (KCSIE) handbook.

3. Key Principles
The welfare of the child is paramount in all decisions and actions.
Any form of abuse or neglect will not be tolerated and will be addressed immediately.
Identifying and addressing concerns at an early stage to prevent escalation.
Ensuring information is shared appropriately and confidentially with relevant professionals.
4. Roles and Responsibilities
As tutors, we are responsible for:
- Ensuring a safe learning environment.
- Recognising and responding to signs of abuse or neglect.
- Reporting concerns to the appropriate authorities.
- Keeping up-to-date with safeguarding training and practices.
5. Recognising Signs of Abuse and Neglect
Understanding the signs of abuse and neglect is crucial. These may include, but are not limited to:
Unexplained injuries, bruises, or burns.
Excessive withdrawal, fearfulness, or changes in behaviour.
Inappropriate knowledge of sexual behaviour or physical symptoms.
Poor hygiene, inadequate clothing, or untreated medical issues.
6. Reporting Concerns
If a child is in immediate danger, contact emergency services (999).
Any concerns about a child's welfare should be reported to the parent/guardian where appropriate, and the relevant local authority safeguarding team.
Record all concerns and actions taken, maintaining confidentiality.
7. Safe Working Practices
Ensure tutoring sessions are conducted in a safe and comfortable environment, in the local library or in the home in the presence of a parent or guardian.
Maintain professional boundaries and clear communication with both the child and their parents/guardians.
Respect the child's privacy and ensure confidentiality of their personal information.
8. Online Safety
Ensure that online tutoring sessions are conducted through secure and supervised platforms.
Encourage parental oversight during online sessions.
Protect the personal data of children in accordance with data protection laws.
9. Training and Development
Stay informed about the latest safeguarding practices and updates in the KCSIE guidelines.
Participate in regular safeguarding training to enhance skills and knowledge.
10. Policy Review
This safeguarding policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains current and effective. Any updates or changes in legislation or best practices will be incorporated accordingly.
